“I’m bored,” Pride said.

Sloth looked over at her slowly. She was stroking the length of one of her whips, as she was wont to do, the other coiled neatly around her torso. Avarice was lent against the bar next to her sipping on the scotch the shaking bartender had served him, one of his bardiches sat on the bartop. Lust and Gluttony were curled together in one corner, whispering and giggling like teenagers. Envy was next to Sloth, staring at the bartender - the only person on this station that was still alive. Wrath was sat at a table, her feet kicked up on it, cleaning her shotgun.

“Why are you bored, Pride?” Wrath asked, not looking up from her work.

“This is all too easy,” Pride said.

“And Cyrano’s trying to use us like attack dogs,” Lust said, turning from Gluttony.

Wrath sighed at that. “I have very good reasons for why I haven’t killed her yet, Lust. You know those reasons.”

Lust made a discontent sound, but didn’t argue.

Sloth knew Wrath’s reasons as well, probably the only person outside the siblings and Cyrano who did. The other Sins certainly didn’t, not yet. Somehow, he expected that before this was out, that might have changed.

“Besides,” Wrath smirked. “This way I know exactly what she’s up to.”

“You could find that out anyway,” Sloth said, gesturing to the bartender to pour him another sherry.

The rattling of the bottle on the glass made them all smile. It wasn’t often that they just had the option to sit and watch how much they scared someone like this. Normally, as much as they watched some of the carnage, they had to escape before someone decided to nuke the place.

“So, what’s the next plan, boss?” Avarice asked.

“There’s a planet in the Rineth system I’m thinking we should take a look at. As much as I’m enjoying taunting the Court into a war, I’d like a quieter pace for now.”

Gluttony gave a throaty chuckle. “Given that the Rineth system everyone’s going to be armed, rather than just the occasional person…”

“And yet,” Wrath tilted her head, “it’s still going to be a quieter attack than attacking another Core world. And besides. This one is a reminder to other people of just what we’re capable of.”

Lust’s face lit up with a delighted smile and e danced over to Wrath, leaning down to hug her.

“Thank you,” Lust said, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

“Any time, sweetheart,” Wrath murmured, eyes softer than they got with anyone else.

Sloth held in the sigh he wanted to let escape. He didn’t necessarily like the reminders of who they used to be, but this side of Wrath was nice to see. The side that had landed her here in the first place.

“Get me another scotch would you, Envy?”

Envy turned to the bartender and tilted his head. The bartender reached for the bottle of scotch Wrath had been having her drinks from. It slipped from his fingers. He stared down, watching it not smash as Pride made use of the whip in her hand.

Wrath tutted quietly as she slid cartridges back into her shotgun and closed it. “Nearly a waste of perfectly good scotch. Now, what do you say to Pride?”

“Th-Thank you,” the man stuttered, ducking down to free the bottle from the whip.

Pride flicked her wrist and the whip bristled. The man let out a startled, pained sound as the now sharp metal slashed at his fingers.

“Oops,” Pride murmured. “How careless of me, I do hope you can forgive me!”

The bartender didn’t say anything, just continued to shake as he poured Wrath her measure. Envy picked up the glass and carried it over to Wrath, dropping it into her hand. The liquid sloshed up the side of the glass and Wrath tutted again, shaking her head at Envy.

“Sometimes,” she said. “I despair of you ever learning about good liquor.”

“Ah,” Envy said, smirking. “But if I learned all about good liquor, what on earth would you have left to teach me?”

Wrath chuckled. “Well. Unless anyone has any advances on Rineth, I think that’s our next goal?”

She looked around the room. No-one disagreed, or offered other options.

“Alright then. Pride?”

Wrath gave the bartender a significant look.

Pride’s gave a sunny smile. “With pleasure.”

“Shall we?” Wrath said to the others as the bartender shrank away from Pride.

“And miss the fun?” Gluttony said, sounding scandalised. “I love watching Pride at work.”

Wrath smirked as they gathered around her table, Pride’s cuffs glowing purple across the bar.
